Many of the products on my website have been designed and hand made by Native Americans. However, many of these artists, despite their birth and heritage, cannot legally call their work Native American made. The U.S. Government has created a law and system making it difficult for many true Native American artists to obtain the proper tribal registration and identification due to the lengthy and complicated process. While some Native American artists do indeed have the proper registration and census number, some of them do not. Therefore, you will see below a disclaimer which is required by law to post onto our site

Census And Quarantine Policy

It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to be familiar with their local city, state, and national laws in regards to the shipment of items such as: Animal Claws, Feathers, Bones, Hand Made Artifacts, and other related products. Please, inquire with your local officials about such laws prior to making your purchase. I cannot be held responsible for any items that are taken by customs officials or quarantine agencies.

HELP SUPPORT WOOD PROGRAMS FOR PINE RIDGE AND CHEYENNE RIVER RESERVATIONS

One Spirit, (www.nativeprogress.org) has developed programs with the Lakota on both Pine Ridge and Cheyenne River Reservations to stockpile wood for the winter and distribute it to families and elders in need. We anticipate that there will be the usual appeal for fire wood from the 1500 homes on Pine Ridge and the 1000 on Cheyenne who use wood exclusively for both heat and cooking. On Pine Ridge, the LE-WE Okiciyapi Fire Wood Project under the auspices of One Spirit, has taken the initiative to plan and prepare for the collection of fire wood to assist those Tribal members who will be in dire need of heat during the harsh winter months ahead. On Cheyenne River, it is the Native American Vets who are stockpiling the wood.

ALL the wood being gathered is hard

Crow Indian Vintage 1920s Beaded Dancer LEGGINGS

These Crow Indian Vintage Beaded Artifact Dancer Leggings are highly collectible artifacts. These leggings, we have estimated, were made during the 1920s. These dancer leggings were hand made from Buckskin Leather for soft, natural textures. And, it features some soft cotton fabric. The fronts of these leggings feature some of the most impressive seed bead work I've ever seen. Each seed bead has been intricately hand stitched to create traditional Native American Indian designs. These leggings have some wear and missing beads due to the age. These great artifacts are each 15-1/4" by 16-1/4".

I understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art. And, I recognize the important of knowing that the artist is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.

Medium Sized Round Wood Rawhide Covered Tarahumara Powwow Drum  1000-2463-NC

This powwow drum is a beautiful piece of traditionally hand made Tarahumaran functional art. The skin on this drum was made from stretched genuine rawhide leather. The frame of the drum is of laminated wood. The the skin has been attached to the frame with rawhide straps. This is a great piece for display or powwow use. The rawhide skin can be colorfully hand painted to serve as a decoration or end table. This drum is approximately 10" wide and 16" tall. For tuning and tightening use water and a heat lamp. You'll be getting one from the group of hand made artifacts pictured below.

The drum is a circle. It symbolizes the inseparable unity of the past, present and future. The unity is a circle that binds all people. Although ceremonies are infinitely varied in detail, they typically involve dancing to the chanting of sacred songs, the shaking of rattles, and blowing of whistles, and the hypnotic rhythms of the drums. Black Elk once explained the drum's symbolic importance: "Its round form represents the universe, and its steady strong beat is the pulse, the heart, throbbing at the center of the universe. As the voice of Wakan Tanka, it stirs and helps us to understand the mystery and the power of things.

Native American Gifts for all Occassions

The objects man makes are called artifacts, and every artifact, whether it is beautiful or ugly, crude or refined, utilitarian or ceremonial, is a reflection and product of man's skills, his techniques, his arts. Artifacts reflect the ideas, the concepts, and the knowledge acquired or learned as a member of a tribe. Members of a particular tribe use certain techniques, and create a particular style because that is their tradition.

If you are looking for a Native American Gift you came to the right place.

Some items are not Native American made. The items that I know are not native american made I try to point them out.
